Hello everyone! I am Will Hancock. I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of New England. I am studying Aquaculture and Aquarium Science. Once I graduate, I intend to become an aquarist along with working in marine rehab. What is an aquarist you ask? Well, they are basically the zookeepers of aquariums.

I have had a different path when it comes to college. I had originally gone to college directly out of high school. I had attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT. Norwich is the oldest private senior military college within the US and the only senior military school where there is both a corps of cadets and civilian students. I had intended to commission into the Army and wanting to work within the medical field. I had ended up transferring to Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT after one year at Norwich. I was majoring in Health Science studies, but I had realized that I had lost motivation for going into the healthcare field. I had spent a year and a half at Quinnipiac before I had determined that college was not for me at the time.

Once leaving school I had intended on enlisting into the military to serve the nation. I had a lot of work Infront of me to be able to enlist. It eventually did not work out given the COVID -19 pandemic and a family situation changing my priorities at the time. After feeling lost with myself and working jobs and picking up skills that I can take with me in life I discovered what I wanted to do.

When I was in Florida last time in November, of 2021 I had started to realize what I was interested in, which was working with animals. When I was working one night in a cold warehouse in February, I had realized I was going to go back to school, I wanted to work within Florida manatee rehabilitation. My first semester here at UNE was in Spring of 2023 and I have loved every moment here.
