Biofloc is another approach of growing organisms within aquaculture. It is a zero waste method which allows it to maintain water quality without significant exchange of water unlike other systems, this allows for no nutrient rich waste to end up in the environment. There is also a reduced feed input, by using other sources of protein sources like fishmeal it reduces the need for expensive feeds. Biofloc also allows for microbial biomass production within the system, the microorganisms will improve water quality but will enable growth, performance, and immunity for fish. Lastly, because Biofloc stimulates the natural environment you would be able to develop copepods through aquamimicry.
