1. Azolla is a plant, fish like carps and Tilapia have been used to find out preference. In Cichlids death or no growth has been observing when fed azolla. When fed to Nile tilapia, when used to replace 10-90% of diet it has been observed as fatal. It has been seen useful as a fertilizer for growing rice and other fish species. In 2006 in India, it has been observed if prepared for grass carp fingerlings, in a fine chopped basket feeding it has been a preferred feeding only in poor water conditions. The fish weight gain had been higher compared to fish with a controlled regular diet, the Azolla also had effect on the water quality.
  2. The African locust bean was fed to African catfish in attempt to replace corn feed diets. The performance of the catfish was not affected with approximately 40% inclusion of the bean. From a profit view, when using 40% locust bean it had reduced production cost by 24% with good fish performance.
